A Readings lockdown update from Mark Rubbo
Dear friends of Readings,
Like all Melbournians we found the recent announcement of a six-week lockdown terribly disappointing but the speed with which the virus can spread makes the decision completely understandable.
In the interests of public health and safety we’ll be closing most of our shops to public browsing from tomorrow. We do think books and music are pretty important to our well-being so we won’t be closing down completely. You’ll be able to order online or come to our doors with requests and to pick up your phone orders, but sadly you won’t have the pleasure of browsing and discovering in-store for six weeks.
We will monitor the situation closely and make changes if circumstances allow.
Thank you so much for your support and understanding – we greatly appreciate it. Please stay safe and be in good spirits.
Updated information for our Melbourne customers
With the return of Stage 3 restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne, we’re adapting our shops to best meet these changing circumstances, and for the safety of both our staff and our customers.
Starting from Thursday 9 July, our Carlton, Kids, Doncaster, Hawthorn, Malvern and St Kilda shops will return to offering kerbside pick-up with reduced trading hours and special conditions, which can be found on each individual shop page.
Call ahead to place your order, or order at the door and pick-up at the same time. You will not be able to browse in-store, so we recommend using our website or our latest issue of the Readings Monthly to plan your purchase. To guarantee availability of an item, please call the store to secure your order. All phone numbers are listed on our shops page.
Unfortunately, due to the temporary closure of the State Library Victoria, our State Library shop will be closed until further notice.
If you would prefer to stay at home, our online shop continues to offer $5 flat rate delivery Australia-wide and free delivery on orders $60 or over.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support during this difficult time. We look forward to seeing you in our shops again at a safer point in the near future.
