Information about our Call & Collect service.
Starting Friday 6 August orders can be placed via phone for kerbside collection at the following stores between 10am and 4pm:
Please note we are currently unable to accomodate kerbside collection for orders placed online. We kindly ask you to directly call your local Readings to place all orders – we can arrange everything you need at greater speed, for your reading pleasure, using this system.
All orders that are placed online will continue to be shipped via Australia post, as normal. Additionally, as per lockdown restrictions, Call & Collect is only available only to customers who live within a 15km radius.
We recommend browsing our website to plan your purchase first – take a look at our most recent reviews and blog posts, or browse the most recent edition of the Readings Monthly here. Once you’ve made your selection, call your local shop to place and pay for your order, and to arrange kerbside pick-up. During this period, we will be unable to accommodate special orders and Call & Collect will only be available for books that are currently in-stock at one of our shops.
We kindly ask that you do not approach our on-site shop staff for in-person or ‘through-the-door’ recommendations, as this is not permitted during Melbourne’s circuit breaker restrictions. We also ask for your patience with us if our phones or staff are busy, or if an item you wanted is no longer available. We look forward to seeing you back in-store on the other side!
Readings is an independent retailer of books, music and film, with seven shops operating in Melbourne. Our flagship Readings Carlton shop was established in 1969 and has since been joined by stores in Doncaster, Hawthorn, Malvern and St Kilda, as well as a boutique shop at the State Library Victoria and a speciality children’s and young adult shop also in Carlton.
Each of our shops has their own individual character and strong ties to the local community. We carefully select our range to reflect the tastes of our local customers. We collectively employ over 120 staff and have approximately 150,000 books currently in stock across all seven of our shops.
