Readings Kids is offering kerbside pickup
With the return of Stage 3 restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne, we’re closed for browsing at our Kids shop from Thursday 9 July and offering kerbside pickup at the front door, with reduced hours.
If you know what you would like to purchase, we encourage you to phone ahead to place your order. Please note, we are able to do brief consultations with customers at the door and bring up to four options to choose from if shopping for gifts. You can also shop online via our website at any time.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support during this difficult time. We look forward to seeing you in our shops again at a safer point in the near future.
Readings Kids is a speciality children’s and young adult bookshop that is home to books, music, games and more for kids and teens, and welcomes families and people of all ages who enjoy children’s and young adult literature.
Located in a building that was originally dreamed up by Melbourne architect Daryl Jackson, this shop is a light-filled, welcoming space for families and people of all ages who enjoy children’s and young adult literature. The gorgeous open-plan design from Nest Architecture is both playful and practical, and one wall features a stunning mural from children’s book illustrator and author Marc Martin.
Readings Kids Story Time
Please note: Our story time sessions at all our shops are currently suspended. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and will update this page once they resume.
These weekly free sessions run every Friday, from 10am to 10.30am, and are suitable for children aged 2-5 years. We ask that parents please stay with their children for the duration of the reading.
During trading hours, the front door is always open and the shop is accessible for people whose mobility is impaired and wheelchair users. Clear signage can be found throughout the shop, and there is a wide main aisle for easy browsing of central shelves. Some shelving along the edge of the shop may be more difficult to access via wheelchair. There are no steps within the shop.
There is seating available on a chair near the front door. We also have a Thomas the Tank Engine train table at the back of the shop that helps to keeps young children entertained while shopping.
If you have any difficulties moving around the shop, encounter hard-to-reach titles, or require a pen and paper to communicate, staff members are always on hand to help.
If you have any specific questions regarding accessibility, please contact the shop directly.
