After a looooong wait for fans, Garth Nix has released a new instalment in his Old Kingdom series – Goldenhand is our bestselling young adult book of last week. The story takes place six months after the events of Abhorsen. Our children’s specialist Holly Harper, says: ‘If you have a fantasy reader at home aged 12 and up, this is one of the must-read series to introduce them to.’

Our bestselling kids book of last week is another hotly-anticipated new release from one of our favourite Australian authors. Aaron Blabey’s Apocalypse Meow is the fourth adventure of The Bad Guys series, and features a ‘ZOMBIE KITTEN APOCALYPSE’. Seriously, how can you resist this premise..?

Throughout October, we’re offering Apocalypse Meow at the special price of $9.99 () from all our shops and online.

Blabey’s new picture book also came out last week, and it’s another hilarious read for kids. We were all delighted to meet the world’s greediest (and most lovable) pug back in Pig the Pug, and now Pig the Elf continues Pig’s adventures – this time with a definite holiday flavour.

We’re also loving Marc Martin’s gorgeous new picture book. Lots transports readers around the world, from Hong Kong to Antarctica, and provides quirky observations and facts about each new place. Martin has been busy painting a stunning mural in our almost-here Kids bookshop.

We’d love you to come along to our opening weekend celebrations on Saturday 8 October and see the mural, as well as meet some of our favourite authors and illustrators. Find more details here.
