This week our top ten includes a number of wonderful local Own-Voices stories! At number three, and published just this week, Rebecca Lim’s Own-Voices, upper-middle grade novel, Tiger Daughter, is a story about a growing up Asian in Australia and the power of perseverance, determination, and challenging cultural conceptions. We are also delighted to be hosting an online event for Tiger Daughter later this week!
Another new release – and already heeding great acclaim – Gary Lonesborough’s, The Boy from the Mish, is an Own-Voices young adult story that explores identity, masculinity, racism, belonging, queerness, art and more. We also see the return of a wonderful 2020 favourite in this week’s top ten with Metal Fish, Falling Snow; winning the prestigious Premier’s Literary Award’s Prize for Young Adult Literature last week, Cath Moore’s warm, Own-Voices coming-of-age road trip about understanding race, identity, grief, and family is a compelling young adult story for all ages.
A fantastic week to read children’s and YA literature.
