See you all in 2018

2017 has been another wonderful year in books, and we’ve loved sharing them all with you.

To everyone who dropped by our shops, attended our events, read our blog, flicked through a copy of the Readings Monthly, donated to the Readings Foundation, listened to the Readings Podcast, came to visit us at Melbourne Writers Festival (or one of the many other fabulous festivals and events we were involved with throughout the year), liked one of our #BookFaceFridays on Instagram, voted for their favourite books, music, film and TV in our poll, and, of course, shopped with us – thank you!

This year, Readings was awarded the Australian Retail Award for Store Fit-Out of the Year for the design of our two newest bookshops – Readings Doncaster and Readings Kids. Both these beautiful spaces were designed by local Melbourne architecture firm Nest. We were also proud to see three of our staff members shortlisted in the ABA Bookselling Awards, and our Malvern Children’s buyer Athina Clarke awarded the 2017 ABA Elizabeth Riley Fellowship.

2017 sadly saw the loss of some much-loved local figures. This included Indigenous musician Dr G Yunupingu, satirist John Clarke and youth literature advocate Agnes Nieuwenhuizen, among others. We will not easily forget their incredible contribution to Australian life and culture.

The next two weeks are going to be a little quiet on the blog while our digital marketing team takes a break. (This is us pictured here, hi!) All of our bookshops – including our online shop – will be open as per usual during this time, and jam-packed with terrific books for getting stuck into over the summer break.

In the meantime, we’ve compiled a selection of some of our most popular blog posts published on the Readings blog in 2017…

Happy holidays, and happy reading.
