Last week’s list of bestselling books is dominated by non-fiction titles. This includes everything from memoir (One Hundred Years of Dirt, No Friend But the Mountains) and self-help (The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck), to an award-winning work interrogating Australian history ( Dark Emu) and a deep dive into the football and politics (The Football Solution).
Three novels appear in the list. Pulitzer Prize winner Less is both a love story and a very funny satire of the American abroad. Warlight is another immersive, beautifully crafted work from Michael Ondaatje. And Too Much Lip is a darkly comic story of modern Aboriginal life which our reviewer says ‘brilliantly showcases Melissa Lucashenko’s talent for constructing funny, fraught and powerful stories driven by complex characters and compelling, true-to-life dramas’.
