Kurdish journalist Behrouz Boochani tops last week’s bestsellers list with his urgent and incredibly powerful memoir, No Friend But the Mountains. Boochani has been held in the Manus Island offshore processing centre since 2013 and his book provides critical insight into daily life for refugees who’ve been detained by Australia.

Other bestselling books of last week include… a delicious new cookbook (Family); new fiction from international literary stars Anne Tyler (Clock Dance) and Michael Ondaatje (Scrublands); a fascinating book about football and politics from George Megalogenis (The Football Solution); and two terrific Australian novels (The Biographer’s Lover and Scrublands).
