We’re pleased to see that customers are still flocking to the gorgeous, creative anthology from Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo. Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls is our bestselling children’s book of last week, and a lovely gift for parents and children to read together.

Last week also saw the release of a brand-new episode of Aaron Blabey’s award-winning The Bad Guys series: Intergalactic Gas. This very funny series is a great pick for beginner readers, with lots of pictures and expressive language that’s fun to say aloud.

Three of the children’s books shortlisted for the Readings Children’s Book Prize also appear on our bestsellers list: A Most Magical Girl, The Secrets We Keep and Escape to the Moon Islands. These books come with our staff’s highest recommendation – find the full shortlist here.

Meanwhile, two contemporary romances for young adult readers are proving popular with older readers. Hawthorn bookseller Carrie Croft describes Steph Bowe’s Night Swimming as a bittersweet comedy of romantic misunderstanding. Digital marketing manager Lian Hingee describes Melissa Keil’s The Secret Science of Magic as a sweet, sparkling YA novel with hidden depths (and one of the sexiest first kisses she’d read!). Both books are suitable for ages 14 and up.
