Behind the scenes at Readings this Christmas

Drop by Readings this week and get all your last-minute Christmas shopping needs.

You can find our Christmas opening hours here and contact information for all seven of our bookshops here. And don’t forget that we also offer gift vouchers for hard-to-buy for friends and family.

Here’s what our booksellers are hoping to find under their own Christmas trees this year.

Ellen, from our Doncaster shop, is keen to dive into our Readings Prize winner, Music and Freedom.

Our St Kilda children’s and YA specialist, Kim, has fallen in love with the beautiful illustrations from Cloth Lullaby.

Animals is a fabulously illustrated – and big! – picture book that has made it’s way onto our Hawthorn children’s and YA specialist Mike’s wishlist.

Alice, from our Malvern Shop, would like to read The Good People, which is one of our top 10 fiction books of 2016.

From our Kids shop, Pilgrim has picked Aliens, Ghosts and Vanishings, a collection of bizarre tales from around Australia.

Robbie – our Carlton shop manager – has been watching The Expanse TV series, and can’t wait to read the newest installation, Babylon’s Ashes.

Hetty McKinnon’s original cookbook, Neighbourhood, is a favourite that has made its way onto our Doncaster bookseller Sophie’s wishlist.

David, from our St Kilda shop, has picked the award-winning Fever of Animals (by fellow St Kilda bookseller, Miles Allison).

Araxi, one of the booksellers at our Hawthorn shop, is looking forward to reading our top ten fiction books of 2016 – Hot Milk

Kids shop bookseller, Julia, is fascinated by Animasaurus, a dinosaur book that shows the link between animals and their prehistoric ancestors.

Our Carlton bookseller, Fiona, loves Women In Science, which profiles 50 remarkable women whose contributions to science helped change the world.

Our St Kilda bookseller, Georgia, loves all things cheese, so thinks that the cookbook Milk. Made is a perfect gift.

The 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning autobiography, Barbarian Days, is the pick of our St Kilda bookseller, Michael.
