Autumn Writing Salon: Seminar Two — Readings Books

Seminar Two – Seeing and Unseeing: Points of View

Writing is an act of looking. We bear witness. We archive. We remember–whether we want to or not. How can we find the right angle for the story in front of us? How, in the words of Marguerite Yourcenar, can we keep our shadow out of the picture, or leave the mirror clean of the mist of our own breath?

In fact, sometimes the world we describe actually describes ourselves. In this seminar, we’ll track point of view in published works, considering how writers build intimacy with their reader, create tension in the telling and bring a vision to the page. We’ll read aloud, generate our own material, and commune with the dead, whose point of view offers original ways to see our living stories.

Open to all writers, at any stage of the process. Come to one session, or come to all!

Tickets are $75 per person, per session. The seminar runs for 2 hours, from 10am to 12pm.

Spaces are limited. Please book here.
