Karen Geoghegan seems to be the next big thing in the bassoon, or in face the classical world. Discovered on BBC Two’s Classical Star, she’s gone to record three solo albums, which let’s face it, is unheard of for a bassoonist! Now onto her fourth recording, she is showign wath she’s made of, performing with teh BBC Philharmonic conducted by Gianandra Noseda. Featuring Mozart’s well-loved Bassoon Concerto, as well as a concerto by Rossini and a set of variations by Kreutzer, this CD will please anyone who likes the standard repertoire but is on the lookout for something a little different form the usual violin and piano.
