When Libba Met Fiona

U.S. YA met Australian YA today at the Carlton store ahead of the three-day

Fresh from the Sydney Writers’ Festival, bestselling US author Libba Bray popped in for a visit today. As well as signing copies of her latest YA novel, The Diviners (plus Going Bovine, Beauty Queens and her Gemma Doyle trilogy), it was a chance for Libba to meet Melbourne’s own YA favourite, Fiona Wood, who has just launched her second novel, Wildlife (our YA book of the month for June!).

of the time but the very real passion for the genre was certainly evident today.

Libba and Fiona will meet again during the Reading Matters conference, which kicks off tomorrow with the Student Program and continues on Friday and Saturday with the Professional Program - such an exciting weekend ahead for the YA crowd. The pair will join Melbourne writer Myke Barlett for a talk on gender and identity on Saturday, as well as several other sessions with writers from Australia, the USA and the UK.

For those who can’t make the conference, we have signed copies of Fiona Wood’s Wildlife and all of Libba Bray’s novels in the Carlton store now.

Thanks for stopping by, Fiona, and welcome to Melbourne, Libba!
