The International Dylan Thomas Prize shortlist 2019
The shortlist for this year’s International Dylan Thomas Prize has been announced.
The six shortlisted titles are…
- Friday Black by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
- Folk by Zoe Gilbert
- In Our Mad and Furious City by Guy Gunaratne
- Trinity by Louisa Hall
- Melmoth by Sarah Perry
- House of Stone by Novuyo Rosa Tshuma
Professor Dai Smith CBE of Swansea University, chair of the judges said: ‘Yet again the [prize] has uncovered a wealth of new talent representing a group of contemporary and diverse voices from across the world. They are linked by a passion for individual sensibilities against a backdrop of history; sometimes violent, always life-changing.’

This International Dylan Thomas Prize is run in partnership with Swansea University and is awarded to the best literary work in the English language written by an author under aged 39 and under. The winning author will be revealed on at a ceremony on Thursday 16 May, and will receive £30,000.
