The 10 bestselling albums at Readings in 2019

Here are our 10 bestselling albums from the past year.

(We’ve also compiled our 100 bestselling books of 2019 and our 10 bestselling DVDs of 2019.)

Our bestselling albums of last year include releases from some of our favourite Australian musicians, including Gurrumul, Nick Cave, Archie Roach and Paul Kelly – who appears here twice! The first collaboration from two of Australia’s finest classical musicians, Slava and Sharon Grigoryan, also proved popular with customers, and we’re pleased to report the Boss is back, with a finger-tapping release that was voted among our staff’s favourite pop albums of the year.

10. Our Place: Duets for Cello and Guitar by Slava & Sharon Grigoryan
9. Djarimirri (Child Of The Rainbow) by Gurrumul
8. Western Stars by Bruce Springsteen
7. Thirteen Ways to Look at Birds by Paul Kelly, James Ledger, Alice Keath & Seraphim Trio
6. Three Chords & The Truth by Van Morrison
5. Songs from the South, 1985-2019 by Paul Kelly
4. Run Home Slow by The Teskey Brothers
3. Tell Me Why by Archie Roach
2. Ghosteen by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

And, our top selling album for 2019 is….

We felt blessed to get our hands on a posthumous new album from Leonard Cohen this year. Thanks for the Dance is not a commemorative collection of B sides and outtakes, but an unexpected harvest of new songs, exciting and vital, a continuation of the master’s final work. Cohen’s voice has not been stilled. The dance goes on.

Ed. note: The list combines sales from all Readings shops and our website. The list covers sales from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019.
