Photos from our tour of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

In 2015, The Readings Foundation is sponsoring the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).

We recently went for a tour of the Centre and reflecting on the space, our managing director Mark Rubbo wrote that: ‘Our little group was immediately impressed by how comfortable it felt – one of us even commented, “Everyone’s so nice!”.’

You can read more about the tour (as well as some of the other projects The Readings Foundation is involved with this year) here. And you can find some photos of the Centre below.

ASRC members can visit the Foodbank once a week which is set up as a ‘supermarket model’.

ASRC’s 1,000-plus volunteers are the primary providers of essential services for members, participating at all levels of leadership and decision-making.

We were relieved that the reading corner was well-stocked…

…and we all agreed that the meeting rooms had excellent names.

The Centre has some great spaces for members to relax and engage with each other, including this one which was described as a ‘pet project’.

Our very happy tour party about to be fed. (We were even happier afterwards!)
