We were delighted to have British food writer and TV star Nigella Lawson visit Melbourne last Monday. Her latest cookbook, Simply Nigella, is our top selling book of the week, and was included in our top ten cookbooks of 2015.

Another bestselling cookbook of last week is a local release. The Moroccan Soup Bar is back in our shops after proving so popular as a Christmas gift, the supplier ran out of stock.

Fiction bestsellers include long-running favourites Elena Ferrante (My Brilliant Friend), Hanya Yanagihara (A Little Life) and Charlotte Wood (The Natural Way of Things), as well as a new addition that will likely appeal to fans of The Wire.

The Whites is written by Richard Price, who won a Writers Guild of America Award for his work on this much-lauded HBO series. His latest book is proving a hit with Readings staff – one bookseller called it ‘compulsively readable’, while another described it as ‘a nuanced crime thriller full of morally compromised characters that had me lingering over the memory of them for days’.
