It’s a joy to see readers connecting with this year’s Miles Franklin Literary Award winner – Melissa Lucashenko’s gritty and darkly hilarious story of a family in crisis and a prodigal daughter’s return, Too Much Lip. This exceptional novel was also shortlisted for the 2019 Stella Prize and the 2019 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for fiction. Read our full review here.

The non-fiction one to watch, however, is Lisa Taddeo’s Three Women, which is once again at the top of our bestsellers’ list. This brutally honest examination of female desire has had everyone from Zoë Foster Blake to Rosie Waterland taking to social media to discuss it at length. Read our full review here. And those looking for a poignant memoir exploring the relationship between parents and children would be well-advised to pick up a copy of Sing This at My Funeral: A Memoir of Fathers and Sons by David Slucki. Slucki’s memoir tells the story of his grandfather, a Holocaust survivor, and his father, and their grave legacy.

And if you’re interested in art and design, take a look at Harry Seidler’s Umbrella, which is also in last week’s bestseller list. Harry Seidler’s Umbrella is an incisive and personal collection of writings on architecture and design by writer and editor (and self-confessed architecture nerd) Joe Rollo. Read our full review here.
