After a blockbuster event at Melbourne Town Hall last week, it’s no surprise to see The 78-Storey Treehouse at the top of our bestsellers list for children’s and young adult books. We had so much fun with co-creators Andy Griffiths, Terry Denton and Jill Griffiths on the night, and you can find some photos of excited fans here.

Other bestselling children’s books include two terrific picture books – the latest hilarious offering from Readings favourite Aaron Blabey, and a ‘resoundingly beautiful book’ from Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Joy Murphy and indigenous artist Lisa Kennedy – as well as the wonderful 2016 winner of the Readings Children’s Book Prize.

For young adult readers, Australian author Zana Fraillon’s The Bone Sparrow is a coming-of-age story about Subhi, a boy born in a refugee camp, who has never known life outside an immigration detention centre. The book has recently been longlisted for the Guardian children’s fiction prize.
