As usual, last week’s list of bestselling children’s books features some wonderful books.

Kat Patrick’s picture book, I am Doodle Cat, is a joyous celebration of everyday pleasures complete with adorable illustrations from Lauren Marriott.

Sara Pennypacker’s Pax is the beautiful and heartbreaking story of a friendship between a young boy and a young fox for 10+. The illustrations from Jon Klassen are stunning, of course, and we’re thrilled that this talented artist and writer will be visiting Melbourne in May. Find out more here.

Kate DiCamillo also gives young readers 8+ a story of friendship with her seventh novel, Raymie Nightingale, which is set in 1970s Florida. Our reviewer says the book left her, ‘feeling warm and fuzzy inside’.

And like the rest of you, we’re also loving Trace Balla’s second graphic novel, Rockhopping. Our reviewer says this book is, ‘a must-have for all adventure-loving readers aged 5–10’.
