We’re not surprised to see our bestselling YA book of last week is the new Cassandra Clare. Lady Midnight is the first first in her new series, The Dark Artifices , and it’s a sequel of sorts to her bestselling Mortal Instruments series. If you have an serious fan in your family (or are one yourself) you might be tempted by this signed special edition.

Other YA reads on our list include two terrific new books from Australian authors that explore male friendships with great subtlety and empathy (The Way We Roll, The Sidekicks), as well as Frances Hardinge’s Costa Prize-winning novel, The Lie Tree. Our children’s specialist Mike Shuttleworth calls the latter: ‘Fabulous stuff!’

Bestselling children’s books include Leanne Hall’s surrealist adventure, as we as three of Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton’s hilarious, bestselling Treehouse books. And we’re also delighted to see that one of our favourite pugs continues to find his way into new homes with Aaron Blabey’s picture book, Pig The Winner, once again proving popular.
