With its adult counterpart in our weekly top 10 for adults again, it’s a privilege to see Young Dark Emu by Bruce Pascoe once again in the top spot of last week’s bestsellers. Young Dark Emu asks young readers to consider a different version of Australia’s history pre-European colonisation. Essential reading for us all.
Otherwise, it was a week of beautiful picture books and board books on our top 10 last week. Claris: The Chicest Mouse in Paris: Fashion Show Fiasco by Megan Hess is certainly worth taking a look at for those who loved book one, or even just for those of us (adults or children) who love a beautiful illustration or two. We also encourage you to spend some time enjoying Kind by Alison Green and Axel Scheffler, a wonderful reflection on kindness for kids, illustrated by thirty-eight artists from around the world.
Moonwalkers by Mark Greenwood and Terry Denton is also a great read – this year marks the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, so what better time to introduce that landmark event, and Australia’s involvement in it, to the little ones.
