We were delighted to host the launch for P is for Pearl last week. This is a moving YA debut from acclaimed author Eliza Henry Jones, and it’s drawn from a novel that she originally wrote when she was only 16! It tops last week’s list of bestselling children’s and YA books.

Two of the books included on this list were recently shortlisted for the 2018 Readings Children’s Book Prize: The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Mettlestone by Jaclyn Moriarty and Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend. You can view the full shortlist here. We love seeing these wonderful books from emerging Australian children’s writers make their way into small hands, and all six shortlistees come with our strongest recommendation.

Our bestsellers list also includes The Silver Sea – a gorgeous collaboration between children at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Alison Lester and Jane Godwin. We adore this picture book. Our reviewer writes: ‘The sparkling, poetic narrative is accompanied by joyous, colourful pictures of an underwater world alive with magical and majestic creatures; the children have obviously had lots of fun.’ Read the full review here.
