Our bestselling children’s book of last week is Wonder, R.J. Palacio’s enduring story of friendship and school politics which has just been adapted for the screen.

Other picks for middle fiction readers include two fantasy adventures from Jessica Townsend and Kelly Barnhill (Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow and The Girl Who Drank the Moon), as well as the eighth book in R.A. Spratt’s popular mystery series starring intrepid girl detective, Friday Barnes (Never Fear).

For younger readers, there’s Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man and Cat Kid, the fourth adventure of the heroic canine, and both volume one and two of the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls anthologies.

Two of our favourite young adult novels from last year also appear on this list. You can read why we love La Belle Sauvage here, and why we love The Hate U Give here.

If you’re already an Angie Thomas fan, there’s recently been some exciting news – we’ve been told to expect her sophomore release, On the Come Up, this year!
