Two brilliantly funny books suitable for reluctant readers (ages 8+) sit at the top of last week’s children’s and YA bestsellers list: The Getaway is the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid tale from Jeff Kinney, and Bad Dad is a new offering from the hilarious duo, David Walliams and Tony Ross.

Staying with middle fiction, we’re thrilled that so many young readers are finding their way to Jessica Townsend’s charming, enticing, magical Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow. You can read a collection of staff raves about this wonderful novel, the first in a new series, here.

Zoë Foster Blake has recently released her first picture book and it’s a delight. No One Likes a Fart is a sweet, funny story about self-acceptance and friendship – though mostly, it’s just about a fart… Zoë will be dropping by Readings Kids this Saturday 25 November to sign copies – find out more details here.

And we’re not surprised to see Philip Pullman’s La Belle Sauvage and John Green’s Turtles All the Way Down listed here. These are two of the biggest YA books of the year and both come highly recommended from our booksellers.
