Join a book club at Readings in 2020

Readings hosts a number of book clubs at three of our stores: Readings State Library, Readings St Kilda, and Readings Doncaster. Bookings for 2020 have just opened, so please read on to find out about the different book clubs on offer, and how to sign up.


BOOK CLUBS AT READINGS STATE LIBRARY


Readings State Library runs four adult book clubs. All groups meet monthly in the shop to discuss a selection of books hand-picked by our experienced staff, and membership is paid on a four-monthly basis at $50.


The Readings State Library Fiction (third Tuesday) Book Club meet at 6.30pm on the third Tuesday of every month. The first meeting for 2020 is on Tuesday 18 February, and the first book up for discussion is Damascus by Christos Tsiolkas.

The Readings State Library Underrated Book Club meet at 6.30pm on the third Wednesday of every month. The first meeting for 2020 is on Wednesday 19 February, and the first book up for discussion is Happiness, As Such by Natalia Ginzburg (translated by Minna Zallman Proctor).

The Readings State Library Nonfiction Book Club meet at 6.30pm on the first Wednesday of every month. The first meeting for 2020 is on Wednesday 5 February, and the first book up for discussion is The Anarchy by William Dalrymple.

The Readings State Library Queer Book Club meet at 6.30pm on the second Wednesday of every month. The first meeting for 2020 is on Wednesday 12 February, and the first book up for discussion is Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl by Andrea Lawlor.

The Readings St Kilda Contemporary Fiction (first Tuesday) Book Club meet at 7pm on the first Tuesday of every month. The first meeting for 2020 is on Tuesday 4 February, and the first book up for discussion is Damascus by Christos Tsiolkas.

Readings State Doncaster runs one adult book clubs. The group meets monthly in the shop to discuss a selection of books hand-picked by our experienced staff, and membership is paid on a four-monthly basis at $50.


The Readings Doncaster Contemporary Fiction Book Club meet at 7pm on the last Thursday of every month. The first meeting for 2020 is on Thursday 27 February, and the first book up for discussion is The Dutch House by Ann Patchett.

READINGS BOOK CLUBS FOR KIDS & TEENS


Readings also runs three book clubs for young readers. Membership for these books clubs is paid on a casual basis at $5 per session (not inclusive of the price of the book).


The Readings St Kilda Kids Graphic Novel Book Club is suitable for kids aged 9-12. The group meets in the shop at 4pm on the first Tuesday of every month. The first meeting for 2020 is on Tuesday 4 February, and the first book up for discussion is Guts by Raina Telgemeier

The Readings Doncaster Middle Fiction Book Club is for kids aged 10-13. The group meets in the shop on Friday nights fortnightly from 7pm to 8pm. The first meeting for 2020 is on Friday 24 January, and the first books up for discussion are Nevermoor and Wundersmith by Jessica Townsend.

The Readings Doncaster Young Adult Book Club is for teens aged 14-19. The group meets in the shop at 6pm on the last Friday of every month. The first meeting for 2020 is on Friday 31 January, and the first books up for discussion are the His Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman.
