Highlights of the MWF Schools Program

The Melbourne Writers Festival is on from 1-9 September this year and their schools program encompasses incredible day-long outings for students to attend! The program includes four sessions across the day that each feature a different author and focus.

Primary School Days: Thursday 1 and Friday 2 September


Gabrielle Wang

Recently crowned Children’s Laureate, Gabrielle Wang will be discussing her newest novel, Zadie Ma and the Dog Who Chased the Moon in a session that focuses on the magic of storytelling, the creative process of making a book, and how writing can help us navigate the ups and downs of life.

Eddie Woo

Australia’s favourite maths teacher and Youtube sensation, Eddie Woo, is famous for making maths fun. He will reveal how numbers hold the key to unlocking secrets from what makes us who we are to the mysteries of the cosmos. He will also be talking about the first two books in his new chapter book series, Who Dunnit, Eddie Woo?, Team Trouble and Time Out.

Rhiannon Wilde

Author Rhiannon Wilde is passionate about students seeing themselves in books and feeling the enduring importance of LGBTQIA+ characters. She talks about tackling the themes of identity and acceptance in her new novel, Where You Left Us, during her session.

Lynette Noni

In this special event, Lynette Noni, one of Australia’s bestselling authors, will answer audience questions about her books and the life of a writer. Learn more about what inspires her stories and the final story in her Prison Healer trilogy, The Blood Traitor. Incredibly passionate and with a massive back catalogue of books to talk about, this is a session not to be missed!
