The John Curtin Research Centre is pleased to announce that Professor Tim Soutphommasane, former Race Discrimination Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission and author of the new book On Hate, will deliver the 2019 John Curtin Lecture. Tim will speak on ‘Patriotism and Leadership’.

Tim Soutphommasane is Professor of Practice (Sociology and Political Theory) at The University of Sydney, and the author of five books: On Hate (2019), I’m Not Racist But … (2015), Don’t Go Back To Where You Came From (2012), The Virtuous Citizen (2012), and Reclaiming Patriotism (2009). From 2013 to 2018 he was Australia’s Race Discrimination Commissioner, and he is currently a board member of the Cranlana Programme and founding chair of the Leadership Council on Cultural Diversity.

Attendees are advised to arrive 6 for a 6.30pm start.
