It’s been seven years since Dear Catastrophe Waitress was the soundtrack to Readings Carlton on a Friday night. Much has changed in the interveningyears of side projects, such as the wonderful God Help the Girl record from last year.

We may no longer have the same jaunty and literate Belle & Sebastian from their early work. A track featuring Norah Jones may not have been on the radar for some fans, but there is much to like on this new record, especially ‘I Didn’t See it Coming’, ‘I’m Not Living in the Real World’ and the last two tracks. I think this could well be a grower, as we get used to this new sound.
