The Virtuoso is a selection of highlights from the recorded legacy of the Australian pianist Noël Mewton-Wood. This disc has been released in conjunction with the critically acclaimed novel by the same name, based on his brief and bittersweet life.

This is an excellent introduction to the deft pianism of this somewhat underrated musician. His grasp of the second movement of the Chopin E-minor concerto is spellbinding and may well challenge your favourite recorded interpretations of this concerto, like those of Lipatti and Zimerman.

There are some gems on this disc and as well as being an insightful companion to the novel, it is a fine introduction to recordings of Noël Mewton-Wood.
