After listening to the Bunkhouse Sessions, it’s clear why the Jayhawks became a catalyst in the evolution of what would eventually be termed alt-country.

The early album has more in common with Gram Parsons and The Flying Burrito Brothers than it does with later Jayhawks classics Tomorrow The Green Grass and Hollywood Town Hall. It is quite evident, though, where those milestone albums grew out of.

This Jayhawks reissue will include an eight-page booklet with new photos and a new essay by co-founder Mark Olson.
