Telemann: Wind Concertos Vol 7

Is there anything more soulful than an oboe? I’d be hard pressed to find anything that would beat Luise Baumgartl’s performance of the opening movement of the Concerto in C minor by Telemann on this recording. With assurance and a brightness I think can only be found in Telemann, the La Stagione Frankfurt acquit themselves with great artistry on 6 different concertos. Worth a mention are the two concertos for double Chalumeaux, a cross between a recorder and a clarinet. With a warm, breathy sound this is an instrument that should not be consigned to the history books. Check it out for something interesting and highly enjoyable.
