Takes: Adem

British singer/songwriter Adem was asked by punters so often at gigs for copies of his covers that he decided to record an album of them for this, his third outing, Takes. The brief: to cover only songs recorded between 1991-2001. Loving treatment has been heaped upon songs by Bjork, Smashing Pumpkins, Breeders and an amazing mash of Aphex Twins’ songs, blending to become a mantra of joy.

Part of the charm of this album is that, layered with the grand piano and violin, glockenspiel and appalachian duolcimer, found objects such as cups and bike locks fill in the percussion. Brilliant.
