This series has it all. Vampires, boarding school, forbidden love, best friends and mean girls. Action, romance, intrigue and despair. If, like me, you’re often late to catch onto a series, and if you’re also a little bit overwhelmed by all the teenage vampire books, then you may not know the Vampire Academy series. I didn’t until three weeks ago. Now that I’m more than hooked, I’ve been counting down the days till the release of Spirit Bound, the fifth book.

In the first book, Vampire Academy, we got to know Rose: quick-tempered, snarky and on the run with her best friend Lissa from St Vladimirs, the academy for vampires and the dhampirs (half vampire/half human) who protect them. Rose is a dhampir and Lissa a living vampire, and after they are caught and sent back to St Vladimirs (the vampire academy) the action and intrigue, not to mention the romance, heats up. Three books later and I am completely enamoured by the world of Rose and her friends – highly recommended!
