Leif Ove Andsnes and Antonio Pappano team up once again on this new recording of Rachmaninov’s third and fourth piano concertos. This completes the cycle for Andsnes and Pappano which began back in 2005 with the first two concertos. The third concerto is a magniicent work that commands great respect and technique from the performer, which Andsnes has in spades, and the support from the London Symphony Orchestra under Pappano’s assured direction is exemplary. The fourth concerto has never garnered the same attention as the others, but it really is a beautiful piece and in the hands of an inspired soloist such a Leif Ove, its true beauty is revealed.
