After the beauty and melancholy of Olson’s previous release, Salvation Blues, he has clearly entered a happy place. Touring with fellow former Jayhawk Gary Louris has clearly been a memorable and positive experience and the result is a collection of songs written by someone viewing himself and the world as if for the first time.

Many Colored Kite is, as its name insists, an album of air and space, of the wide open world, uncluttered and free. Highlights include ‘Wind and Rain’, ‘Morning Dove’ and the beautiful ‘Blue Bell’.
