Album number three for critically acclaimed Sydney singer/songwriter Perry Keyes is another small gem. Keyes again ploughs the seamier side of his native city for inspiration and his songs are inhabited by the marginalised and desperate, the people left behind. There is such a strong sense of place in these songs that the listener feels transported.

With shades of Paul Kelly, Elvis Costello, Springsteen and Lou Reed running through the album (the latter gets a name check), Perry Keyes is another Australian songwriter to be truly treasured. Let’s hope the public sit up and take notice of a wonderful talent.
