This superb double album from the legendary Marianne Faithfull contains some of her finest recordings. Working once more with Strange Weather producer Hal Willner, Faithfull covers a range of songs originally recorded by such artists as Billie Holiday, Merle Haggard, Morrisey and Dolly Parton! Faithfull’s voice, though older, retains its richness, enabling her to achieve some remarkable results. On this collection she is ably assisted by Nick Cave, Antony Hegarty, Rufus Wainwright, Cat Power, and old mate Keith Richards. The Dirty Three’s Warren Ellis contributes his violin to three songs. Bluesy, smokey, and highly enjoyable, this collection shows that Marianne Faithfull has lost none of her vocal skills.
