This new recording of Boccherini’s three symphonies (his output included about 30 symphonies) is part of the Contemporaries of Mozart series – one of the longest-running on Chandos, and offering performances of rarely recorded works. If you are only familiar with Boccherini’s chamber music then I suggest giving this recording a try. Matthias Bamert and the London Mozart Players attack the repertoire with gusto, and the end result is a finely detailed recording of these little-known works. Highly recommended.
