This beautiful solo album from Cathy Jordan, lead singer of Irish traditional band Dervish, has been 20 years in the making. For this album, Jordan has gone back to the songs she heard sung in her house by parents and friends,songs that helped shape her musical development into one of the best singers in Ireland over the last two decades. Jordan has called upon former bandmates and some of Celtic music’s heavy-hitters, including Eddi Reader, Andy Reader and Michael McGoldrick to name a few. But it is Jordan’s album and what a showcase it is for that gorgeous voice on a collection of rebel songs, immigration ballads, originals and some lesser-heard gems.
