This glowing red cloth-covered book is a delight to hold, even before opening the pages. Told through intriguing sepia etchings, with touches of hand-coloured detail, it is the story of a small boy’s first visit to his grandfather’s library in the middle of the forest. There, he and his pet fish fall into a book and are caught up in an adventure inside it. That idea is not new, but the presentation, both sophisticated but very simple, is quite beautiful.

Ideal for 3-6 year olds, but worth poring over at any age.
