Roll with It by Jamie Sumner

Ellie isn’t exactly looking forward to starting at a new school in a new town. Despite her doctors confirming that her brain scans reveal ‘no abnormal activity’ (yay! no more seizures!), Ellie’s mum is still insisting Ellie will need an aide. It’s like Ellie says: you can work so hard to overcome all the challenges cerebral palsy throws at you, but one mention of ‘your history’ and you’re back to square one. Happily though, Ellie’s new school isn’t able to immediately provide an aide, so Ellie not only gets a chance to prove herself but she also makes friends for the very first time!

I really enjoyed this educating and funny book. Ellie’s blunt responses to people’s reactions to her will not only make you laugh but they also form a handy mental ‘To NOT Do’ list! An easy to read and lighthearted story, Roll With It is perfect for fans of Wonder aged 8+.
