With this new recording,Yuja Wang continues toclimb the heights of theclassical world. Theseperformances again showwhat a wonderful pianistshe is developing into – and Rachmaninov,for any pianist, is always a great test of theirmusical abilities. Wang and Abbado movegracefully through each movement of theRhapsody *and the pleasure she derives fromperforming this work is at once recognisableto the listener. One never gets tired ofhearing the Second Piano Concerto* andWang’s charismatic performance, combinedwith beautiful support from Abbado andthe Mahler Chamber Orchestra, will surelydelight.
