My Name is Elizabeth by Annika Dunklee

Elizabeth loves her name and cannot understand why people would want to shorten it. The Queen was even named after her!

She doesn’t like to be called Liz or Lizzy. And no, don’t even think about calling her Beth or Betsy. Her full name is ELIZABETH Alfreda Roxanne Carmelita Bluebell Jones but you can call her Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is determined to make everyone aware that she would prefer to be called by her perfect nine-letter name. But for some, especially her younger brother, Elizabeth is a hard name to pronounce and he can only manage ‘Wizabef’, which is close enough.

This is a fantastic picture book with great humour and beautiful retro illustrations in blue, orange and black. Elizabeth is a wonderful character; she is very confident and adorable and is often accompanied by her pet duck, who happens to wear a crown!
