Lawless by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis
After collaborating to produce the remarkable soundtracks to director John Hillcoat’s The Road and The Proposition, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have teamed up once again for Hillcoat’s latest, Lawless, a gangster film set during the United States Prohibition era (1919-1933).
Performing with Martyn Casey, David Sard and George Vjestica, the core group members have appropriately named themselves The Bootleggers, and they tackle both new songs and covers such as the Velvet Underground’s ‘White Light/White Heat’ and Townes van Zandt’s ‘The Snake Song’. The Bootleggers are accompanied by special guests for the project including Mark Lanegan, Emmylou Harris and Willie Nelson
