Only one man could make a record in tribute to the work of Buck Owens. In doing so Dwight Yoakam found the clearest way he could to express his love and acknowledge their friendship. After the death of Owens in 2006, Yoakan began to incorporate more of his songs into his set list as a mark of respect. This collection is an extension of that but don’t expect just straight play-by-numbers here, Yoakam has breathed new life into standards like ‘Act Naturally’ and ‘Excuse Me (I Think I’ve Got a Heartache’). The result is a modern, catchy, honky tonk reworking of everlasting country classics worthy of the legend that was (is) Buck Owens.
