Washington-based guitarist and singer-songwriter, Kelly Joe Phelps’s style is an impressive fusion of blues, folk, jazz, country and gospel, and he has played alongside the likes of Martin Simpson and the late Townes Van Zandt.
On his new album, Brother Sinner and the Whale, we find Phelps returning to his spiritual roots on a record that is lyrically poetic, and inspired in part by the Book of Jonah.
