The audacious and captivating Hattie and her best friend Linda navigate the social politics of their first school years in this funny illustrated chapter book.
Hattie wants a horse more than anything. Her friend Ellen has three ponies. When Hattie’s father finally comes home with a horse float, Hattie is ecstatic. But instead of a horse, out stomps Olaf - a donkey.
Now Hattie not only has horse fever, she suddenly catches lying sickness as well.

The schoolchildren of the Swedish village Ängatorp have gone horse crazy! In her new book, Frida Nilsson returns us to the wild world of the mischievous and irresistible rabble-rouser, Hattie.
Set a few years after the first book, Hattie and her schoolmates have cultivated one of the more classic childhood infatuations – they have all become horse girls! When the novelty of crawling around on all fours neighing at each other starts to fade, however, it seems only logical they appeal to their parents for some real horses of their own.
When Hattie’s (ever-forgiving) parents point out that horses are an expensive investment, things get a little hairy. If we know anything about Hattie, it’s that she doesn’t like to compromise. Cue 180 pages of first-class antics – lies, deceit, mopeds, strawberry milk and donkeys. Hattie and Olaf is a heartwarming and hilarious addition to a series I love. I can’t wait to see what Frida Nilsson does next! For ages 6+.
