The situation happens in early 80s. Madeleine Hanna, a hopeless romantic girl, who is doing her thesis about Jane Austen and George Eliot, is focused in learning how those two authors approached love in their writings. She gets involved in a passionate love story, just like in the classic novels when Leonard Bankhead and Mitchell Grammaticus appear in her life.
