This generously filled 2CD set has been released to mark the tenth anniversary of Jordi Savall’s wonderful Alia Vox label. The title, Invocation A la Nuit, is a tribute to the special qualities of silence that night creates. Most of the Alia Vox albums were recorded between the hours of 1am and 4am, endeavouring to distill some of this atmosphere during recording sessions.
The first disc is totally comprised of vocal music, the second is instrumental. The result is a rich and varied musical journey ranging from the middle ages to the present day. The tracks are not only taken from the past 10 years of Alia Vox’s recording history, but also feature some unreleased recordings and future albums, plus some examples of the Astree catalogue (1975 to 1996).
Issued in a deluxe digipack including a 133 page booklet in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Catalan which includes the complete current Alia Vox catalogue. This is the perfect warm-up album to the Savall family and Hesperion XXI’s much anticipated tour of Australia later this year for Musica Viva.
